11/4/2011 - Approximately 73 percent of businesses may be vulnerable to cyber attack
A new study is revealing that a considerable number of businesses have not tested their websites to make sure they're not vulnerable to cyber attackers.
According to a survey conducted by the Small Business Authority, based on a poll of 1,200 respondents, just 27% of small businessowners said they had had their websites tested by an outside party to make sure they could not be infiltrated by hackers.
Barry Sloane, president and CEO of The Small Business Authority, said the recent cyber threats to many large businesses should be a cause for concern for small business operators.
"With recent breaches of security at Citibank, Sony and The Pentagon, small business owners should be concerned and take precaution to ensure their confidential business information is protected," said Sloane.
He went on to say that small and medium-sized businesses especially should have all aspects of their data security systems reviewed.
