10/4/2011 - Honda to recall 310,000 Pilots

Honda is recalling thousands of Pilots.

Honda Motor Company recently announced that it's recalling more than 310,000 of its Pilot vehicles due to a potential problem with the model's seatbelts.

The Japanese automaker said the seatbelts on Pilots with model years between 2009 and 2011 may have been manufactured improperly, as the stitching on the lap section of the belt may be incomplete or missing.

"Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda," said the company in a statement. "The only way to concretely determine whether the seatbelts in an affected vehicle were properly completed is through a specific inspection process conducted by an authorized dealer."

The company said the inspection will be free, and should seatbelts need to be replaced, that too will be at no cost to the owner. While there have been no incidents resulting from the manufacturing flaw, improperly installed seatbelts could increase the risk of injury should a motorist be involved in an accident.
