1/28/2013 - January 28 is Data Privacy Day

Data Privacy Day was launched by the NCSA.

Many Americans and business owners say they have either personally or professionally been affected by cyber hacking attempts, an illegal internet activity that's caused a significant amount of frustration and loss for those who have been impacted. And on January 28, those who have suffered the adverse effects will fight back.

The National Cyber Security Alliance has collaborated with several institutions throughout the world to support Data Privacy Day, a cyber security awareness event that businesses and individuals throughout the world are recognizing.

"Anyone can get involved in Data Privacy Day and help raise awareness about the importance of data privacy," said Michael Kaiser, executive director of the NCSA. If everyone takes some time on or around January 28th to educate customers, constituents, students and family members about privacy and data protection, we can instill the respect for privacy and security in all digital citizens."

According to Munich Re, more than 220 million data breaches took place in 2011 alone. Business owners can guard against the consequences of these hack attempts with Selective's CyCurity® coverage plan, which can help protect victims of cyber loss with three distinct coverages: electronic media liability, electronic information security and security breach expenses. Talk to your independent Selective agent to learn more about CyCurity® from Selective.
