6/4/2012 - Wedding season calls for review of insurance needs
With summer on the doorstep, wedding season is about to get underway, as soon-to-be brides and grooms get everything in order for what will be one of the most important days of their lives.
While much of their time will be devoted to the wedding and reception, the Insurance Information Institute reminds newlyweds to keep their insurance needs in mind as well.
Michael Barry, vice president of media relations for III, said insurers need to know about these types of momentous occasions.
"To make the most of your insurance dollars, let your agent or insurance company representative know about major events in your life, such as a marriage," said Barry. "A thorough analysis of your existing policies will ensure that you are properly covered."
For instance, after getting married, couples will likely be combining their belongings once they start living under one household. As a result, they may need to update their homeowners or renters insurance
policy. Auto insurance
should also be considered, as newlyweds may want to combine plans, often resulting in a discounted rate.
