9/12/2011 - General Motors issues recall
More than 16,000 Chevrolet Impalas and Buick LaCrosse vehicles are being recalled by General Motors due to problems with the vehicles' power steering and brakes, according to Reuters.
Specifically, GM is recalling 11,905 2012 Impalas for issues with the model's power steering hose, as the company tells the news service they can result in a fire if the spray fluid from the hose leaks onto the engine.
As for the LaCrosse, 4,293 2012 models will also be recalled in order to reprogram their electronic brake control modules. GM tells the source if the sensor malfunctions, motorists operating the vehicle may have difficulty controlling it, potentially leading to an accident.
No injuries or crashes have been reported from the models in question, Reuters reports. General Motors says the flaws were detected in Oshawa, Ontario - where both of the models are built - during the production process.
