Our Trainee Programs prepare recent college graduates for a successful career at Selective by giving them the opportunities, resources and experiences they need to build a strong foundational knowledge of the insurance industry and develop the skills that are critical to success. We offer a variety of Trainee Programs that focus on different disciplines of our core operations.
Corporate Trainee Program:
This six-month training program begins with classroom learning, where participants gain broad knowledge about the industry and take various insurance exams. They then rotate through different departments throughout the organization to gain diverse perspectives about our business, while also participating in a structured group project. At the end of program, the trainees have the opportunity to interview for a variety of roles in the organization and are guaranteed a position.
Finance Trainee Program:
This 18-month training program prepares recent college graduates for success in our Finance organization by providing in depth learning and training about corporate finance. Participants rotate through divisions of our Finance department, including Accounting and Tax, and have guaranteed placement at the end of the program.
Safety Management Trainee Program:
This 11-month training program gives trainees the chance to build proficiencies in safety management within the area of Commercial Lines insurance coverage. Participants combine classroom learning with “real-life” skill development to launch a career in Safety Management.
Underwriting Trainee Program:
This 11-month training program is focused on building a deep understanding of underwriting in relation to commercial, personal and excess and surplus insurance coverage. Participants in this program will combine classroom learning with “real-life” skill development to launch a career in Underwriting.
