“As a catastrophic mobile adjuster, I play a critical role in helping our customers and communities recover after natural disasters.”

How long have you been with Selective, and what made you join?

I have been with Selective for two years. One of the main reasons I joined Selective was its strong commitment to fostering employee growth and development. I knew from my first interview with Selective that it would be different in all the right ways!

Why do you stay at Selective?

Selective promotes a true sense of belonging. From day one, I felt I mattered and was an integral part of the company. Our team does a fantastic job of recognizing and rewarding the hard work that we each do day in and day out. This recognition and plentiful professional development opportunities have made my decision to stay at Selective a very easy one.

How would you describe your role, and what does a typical day look like?

My role is very unique within Selective. The mobile team was created and is a true mixture of everything claims, and it means we can assist anywhere at any time in multiple capacities.

One day, I may be helping customers and agency partners in New Jersey while working virtually at home. The next, I may be headed to the airport to travel to Maryland to assist customers in person. I am the "Swiss army knife" of the Property claims team within Selective.

Why is the work you do at Selective important?

As a catastrophic mobile adjuster, I play a critical role in helping our customers and communities recover after natural disasters.

Being on the scene first to provide timely assistance to our policyholders and agency partners is most important during times of catastrophe. Our presence in these situations helps maintain trust and confidence in the insurance industry and reinforces our commitment to our customers and agency partners.

What key lessons have you learned in your career?

I have learned to be adaptive, build strong relationships, and embrace continuous learning. Doing these three things has benefited my career and kept me on a solid career development path.

One thing I love about Selective is leadership's support and emphasis on career growth, which helps me stay on track with my career goals.

What advice would you give to someone joining Selective in property claims?

I would encourage them to seek mentorship and guidance, embrace technology, and foster relationships. Cultivating solid relationships within Selective helps tremendously when you are first beginning a career here. Our property department has a ton of talented individuals who are knowledgeable and always willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask questions!
