How long have you been with Selective and why do you stay?

I just celebrated my 2nd anniversary with Selective. Everyone here is accommodating, and the company fosters an environment where I can excel. I was attracted to Selective after reading online reviews that highlighted Selective's exceptional reputation for customer service and growth.

How would you describe your role, and what does a typical day look like?

When I was deployed to service claims, there was a significant event where the local office needed assistance with the influx of claims. I will fly or drive to the region and set up my mobile office in my hotel room.

I enjoy being available to respond and travel to our most affected customers immediately. I pride myself on being able to triage the assigned claims to react quickly to our customers who need the most help. I can inspect the property for any covered losses and write an estimate for those covered damages.

After triaging the claims and scheduling my inspections, I strive to settle my claims quickly. The quicker we can return our insured to their pre-loss condition, the better. Selective allows me to handle all losses affecting our residential and commercial customers.

What has surprised you since joining Selective?

Since joining Selective, I have been amazed at how well Selective allows us to balance work and life. Unlike other carriers I worked for, Selective provides support to enable me to provide thoughtful and timely responses to our customers' questions and concerns.

In my time here, many policyholders and agents tell me how they love Selective Insurance and how likely they would renew. When I hear that, I know we are making a difference.

Why is the work you do at Selective important?

As a front-line employee, I'm helping to deliver on the promise we offered our customers when we sold them their policy. When I am deployed, I often meet with insureds on one of the worst days of their lives. I strive to assure them that they have Selective so we can help them, and I do everything I can to make a difference in their day and, hopefully, their lives.

What is the most exciting aspect of your job?

Through my experience in property and commercial claims, I'm uniquely qualified to handle all types of claims handling, especially in customer service. By simply listening to the policyholder, I can help make their claims experience positive. Sometimes, I need to hold their hands a little longer so they feel comfortable with their claim and how their home or building will be restored to pre-loss conditions.

I seek to help people in my life, so the exciting part of the job is being able to help people when they need it most.

What makes you feel like you can be 'Uniquely You' at work?

Each claim is unique, and I'm empowered to think outside the box and do what is owed to our customers according to the policy while helping our insureds simultaneously.

My personality and experience in claims for the last 22 years make me uniquely qualified to help our customers. And that's what makes me "me." I love being able to help people, and Selective allows me to do that.
