John J. Marchioni
John J. Marchioni has served as President and Chief Operating Officer since September 2013, with oversight for Selective’s insurance operations, information technology, human resources and actuarial.
Mr. Marchioni joined Selective in 1998 as a Government Affairs Specialist. In 2000 he was promoted to Assistant Vice President in Government Affairs, and in 2003 to Vice President, Director of Government Affairs. He was appointed Vice President and Strategic Business Unit Leader in 2004, and Senior Vice President, Director of Personal Lines and Flood in 2005. Mr. Marchioni was promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Field Operations Officer in October 2007. Before coming to Selective, he was Vice President of Government Relations for the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey.
Kimberly Burnett is Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. She is responsible for all Human Resources functions including talent management, benefits, diversity and compensation.
Ms. Burnett joined Selective in 1989 and has served in a variety of Human Resource positions including Vice President, Human Resources; Assistant Vice President of Leadership and Professional Development; Assistant Vice President and Manager of Employee Relations; and Human Resources Generalist.
Gordon J. Gaudet
Gordon J. Gaudet is Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer, with responsibility for all ITS operations at Selective.
Mr. Gaudet joined Selective in May 2013. He has significant understanding and appreciation for the challenges and complexity of insurance information technology organizations. He spent the prior nine years as a Director and Co-lead of Deloitte Consulting’s Insurance Core System Transformation practice in Chicago and served on the systems integration advisory boards for Program/Project Management and Delivery Methods and Tools.
Prior to his tenure at Deloitte, Mr. Gaudet was Partner and Chief Information Officer at The Actuarials Exchange, LLC, responsible for all company technology. He spent six years serving at C-Change, Inc., as their Solution Delivery and Technology leader/partner and was responsible for the company’s technology strategy, policy and investment decisions. During his career, he has been responsible for technology strategy and assessment, as well as full life-cycle execution in many insurance sub-sectors, including property and casualty insurance.
Michael H. Lanza
Michael H. Lanza is Executive Vice President and General Counsel, with oversight for the company's legal department, as well as regulatory, ethics and compliance, and legislative and government affairs functions. He also serves as Selective’s Chief Compliance Officer.
Mr. Lanza joined Selective in 2004 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and was promoted to his current role in October 2007. Previously a corporate advisor and consultant, he also served as Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of QuadraMed Corporation, a health care information technology company in California. Prior to QuadraMed, Mr. Lanza was an Assistant General Counsel at CIGNA Corporation, where his responsibilities included state government affairs, health care compliance, and international matters.
George A. Neale
George A. Neale is Executive Vice President, Chief Claims Officer, with responsibility for all Claims and Staff Counsel operations at Selective.
Mr. Neale joined Selective in April 2013. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Claims officer for Commercial Insurance for Liberty Mutual. Prior to his 10-year career at Liberty Mutual, Mr. Neale held senior claims management roles at Kemper and Travelers.
Dale A. Thatcher
Dale A. Thatcher is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, with responsibility for Finance, Treasury, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, Investment Operations, Reinsurance, Corporate Communications and Tax.
Mr. Thatcher was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2003. Prior to joining Selective in 2000, he worked with Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, where he was Chief Accounting Officer and Director of Investor Relations. He has a broad background in all aspects of property and casualty finance, including capital structure planning, SEC reporting, tax strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory negotiations.
Ronald J. Zaleski, Sr.
Ronald J. Zaleski, Sr., Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary, is responsible for directing the company's actuarial operations, including analysis, pricing and reserving. He also plays a key role in the company's strategic planning.
Mr. Zaleski was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2003. Before joining Selective in 1999, he was Vice President and Chief Actuary of Custom Markets for TIG in Dallas. He has more than 30 years experience with major property and casualty companies as well as with an actuarial consulting firm. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund.
